Broken - Diploma
My work "Broken" deals with the fragility and value of ceramics, especially after they have been broken. In earlier times, repairing broken objects was often necessary and cheaper than buying a new one. Today, we live in a throwaway society that makes repairs seem unattractive. My thesis analyzes why repairs can still be worthwhile and raises the question of whether breaking can also offer new opportunities. Supported by interviews with experts, I investigate the cultural and emotional value of repaired objects. This theoretical work is based on interviews and summarized in a small book. Additionally, I visualized some selected quotes in a second book. Here, the spoken words should be freely interpreted and, ultimately, made tangible through various printing and paper techniques.
